FAQ

Q1. Who is organizing the International Creative Arts Therapies Conference in Tokyo?
A. An International Creative Arts Therapy Conference Planning Committee has been organized. There are approximately 20 members on the committee and they consist of the following:
-
Creative arts therapists who are currently practicing in Japan in their respective fields, with the majority having received their education and training in either European or American graduate schools.
- Creative arts therapists who are currently practicing in the United States.
- Individuals who are practicing creative arts therapies in medical, clinical, and international settings.

Q2. How many times has this conference been held?

A. This will be the first time for an international creative arts therapies conference to be held in Japan. The possibility of holding this conference again will be determined after this year's conference.

Q3. Who will attend the conference?
A. Individuals practicing creative arts therapies in medical, clinical, social welfare, education, and other fields; those who wish to incorporate creative arts therapies into their current field; and educators, students, artists, and those from the general public who have an interest in creative arts therapies will attend. Some of the lectures and workshops may be closed to the general public due to confidentiality issues. We are expecting about 300 participants per day. Although we have been publicizing the conference both within and outside of Japan, we expect a majority of the participants to be from Japan.

Q4. Who will be presenting?
A. Keynote speakers for the lectures will be creative arts therapists from abroad, who have played a leading role in the development of their respective fields. Workshops will be lead by lecturers invited from abroad, therapists practicing in Japan, and therapists or lecturers whose proposals have been accepted either in Japan or abroad. Speech presentations will also be given by individuals whose proposals have been accepted. Proposal guidelines can be found under the Call-for-Proposals page. A complete list of presenters will be posted under the schedule page, once all the proposals have been reviewed and selected.

Q5. Are there any accommodations available close to the conference site?
A. Single rooms with a bathroom and shower are available for 4300 Yen per night for October 6, 7, and 8 at the conference site. Space is limited and is first come first serve. Reservations cannot be made directly with the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center. All requests for on-site room reservations must be made with the Creative Arts Therapy main office along with conference registration. Information regarding nearby off-site hotels can be found on the accommodations page.
