Description |
Plants electing 50-120cm tall. Leaves 8-20cm long, 2-5cm wide. Flowers
white or pink inflorescence 3-8cm, long. perianths ca. 3mm long, flowering
in June to September. Perrenial plants. |

Many authors have described that Japanese species should be identified
as Bistorta officinalis Delarbre subsp. officinalis (syn. Bistorta vulgaris Hill; Polygonum bistorta L.).
If the Japanese species should be identified as Bistorta officinalis subsp. japonica but not as Bistorta officinalis subsp. officinalis then legal varidity and covering scope of many patents on Polygonum bistorta (synonym of Bistorta officinalissubsp. officinalis) might be in doubt. |
