建築に対する態度 　建築創作にあたり，我々が基本としている姿勢はＥＮＫＡという言葉で表現できる。ＥＮＫＡとは， 「縁家」，「円家」，「宴家」の三つの意味を持つ。 　プロジェクトは施主と建築家の「縁」をきっかけに始まり，次に同じ目的の上で施工にかかわる多くの人々を伴って和を意味する「円」に成長する。この「円」は，建築の完成とともに「宴」に変貌する。 　これによって縁家→円家→宴家の連鎖は完結されるが，さらにここでの「宴」は次の新たなる「縁」の始まりとして生まれ変わる。このような考え方を表す言葉がＥＮＫＡである。

THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Our basic concept on the architectural creation is expressed as a word of ENKA. ENKA signifies "House of ENs" which bears triple meanings of Relationship, Circle and Banquet. A project begins with Relationship of a client and an architect, then it grows up into EN of Circle meaning a unity of many people engaging in the construction for the same purpose. This EN of Circle transforms into EN of Banquet celebrated by the people at the completion of building. Thus a chain reaction of ENKA is concluded; EN of Relationship → EN of Circle → EN of Banquet. Furthermore, this EN of Banquet will produce a new EN of Relationship. This concept is defined as ENKA.

環境に対する態度 　都市及び景観デザインを進める上での大切な視点として，「共生」及び「蘇生」での視点が考えられる。 　「共生」での視点とは，ある地域を単に人工的に開発する方向でのみ考えるのではなく，その地域での要求と既存の条件や新しい永続性をもった都市機能等を踏まえて自然との融合をめざす環境保持を基本とする態度であり，そして新たに作られる構築物が環境創造の先駆者としてその地域での模範となるように配慮することである。また，「蘇生」での視点とは，既存の土地には既に何十年，何百年の歴史が存在し，人々の記憶の中に固有化されたイメージとなっているものがあり，その固有性を維持しながら，物質的にも精神的にも解体と組み立ての操作を繰り返し，その地域に新たな生気を吹き込み活性化させることである。それはその地域を形成している主要素を捉え直し，過去から未来へ繋がる時間の中で都市の成長に寄与する秩序を見極め，既存の社会的財産と周囲に広がる自然環境との間の物質的にも精神的にも大きく隔たった差異を取り除き，自然と人工物の関係性の中に秩序を見つけだすことと考える。

THE LANDSCAPE DESIGN "Symbiosis" and "revitalization" are important points of view for urban design and landscape design. The "symbiosis" point of view is not only to consider an artificial development of the area but also an attitude based on preservation of environment to harmonize with nature, taking into account the demands, the existing conditions and an urban function with a new permanence in the area, and also to consider a new construction to become a model as a pioneer of environmental creation in the area. The "revitalization" point of view is to maintain the peculiarity and characteristics in the memory of the people in the area with a history of dozens or hundreds of years and to inspire a new vigor into the area to activate it by repeating operations of disconstruction and constitution on both mental and physical level. It is to clarify again main elements of the site, to ascertain an order contributing to the growth of the city from the past time to the future, to remove a big difference mentally and physically between the surrounding nature environment and the existing social property, and to find an order in the relation of nature and artificiality.
