忠誠心の宣誓
ＤＪとキミー（２人の小学生の女の子）が話していて、そこに
ＤＪの妹ステファニー（明日初めて幼稚園に行く女の子）が割り込む。
その妹にＤＪが言うセリフ。フルハウスの第３話です。
Kindergarten is so easy.
The only thing you have to know is the pledge of allegiance.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

アメリカは、全ての人に自由と正義を与える、統一された、
神の下にある国です。
☆☆文法解説☆☆
☆for which it stands,☆（その旗が象徴する）
＝it stands for the United States of America
it は the flag。
stand for は〜を象徴する（represent）。
この文の the United States of America が関係代名詞 which になり、
それが for which の２つのかたまりで前に出たもの。
これを幼稚園児が全員で声をそろえて言う。
もちろん幼稚園の子供が pledge や allegiance
まして indivisible なんて語の意味を知ってい
るはずもありませんが、公立の幼稚園や小学校
低学年の教室で見られる光景のようです。
ちょっと軍隊みたいですが、アメリカ人は、
自分たち国民によって国が作られたことに誇りを持ち、
その国に対する忠誠心を大切にしています。
だから幼稚園の段階から、こういうことを子供にさせ、
国に対する忠誠心を意識させる。
今でも天皇の御代を祝う歌が
国家になっているのが日本。
良い悪いは別として、
これも文化の一つなんですね。
