| The weather in winter Oregon is severe. Two guys were driving through the Oregon's nice coniferous trees to the Oregon Coast while anxiousing about the weather. At the break of dawn, the sky's getting blue!!! We were yelling Hell yeah! Ryan, it's gonna be a beautiful one today ain't u? Our boat left the dock to the serene bay waters. |

| アメリカ西海岸、ニューポート。 偏西風がまともに吹き付けてくる 冬のノースウエストは、晴れた日でも寒い。 晴れの日はなかなかめずらしい。 ルームメートのライアンと、 「いつかいこう」といっていた釣りが実現した。 針葉樹林、湿地帯を抜けること約２時間、 ニューポートにたどり着く。 久々の漁師町の香り、僕は何か懐かしさと、 海にきたぞ！というものを感じるが、 彼的には「臭い」としか思わないらしい。 さすが生粋のアメリカ人。 |

しかし、ウネリが高い。 木の葉のようにゆられる船の中で竿を出す。 昨晩ほとんど寝てない、始める前から船酔い。 狙いはクロソイ？カサゴ？のような魚。 運がよければ、リンコッドという巨大魚 に巡りあえるらしい。 カサゴ釣りは得意だ。 船がウネリに乗り、流されている。 ２２人の客、誰にもアタリがないのは、 仕掛けが底から離れているからだろう。 ラインを送りながら、底を取った。 すると、３連発でターゲットを食わせた。 |
| I felt drafting on a huge swells like a fallen leaf in a river rather than
fishing!! How can we get fish in this tough situation? However, I had an idea in which fishes supposed to be, and it should be in the bottom. I just tried to keep my lure in the bottom, and then I gotta response one after another! Hey! I gotta two nice Black Sea Bass, and those are the first and the 2nd one on the boat! Crew said "hey are u gonna get all fishes on the boat today?" |

| １人だけアタリが続く、クルーのじいさんが、 「お前１人で全部魚を釣る気か？」と。 胴付３本針、ハリスは１０号くらい。 エサは、一番下の針はイワシ、 残りの２つはビニールベイトだ。 しかし強烈な船酔い、ゲロはいてダウン。 はけば元気になると思ったけど、 徹夜が効いていて、そうもいかない。 一投ごとにキャビンに戻って休憩。 |

the other anglers. Hey! Who do u wanna get my "fish baite"? Who? I gotta ready, available anytime! and for free! My fish bait is made of the fucking sausage muffin and latte, tall one, mixed and brewed in my stomack. I don't know fishes here like the taste or not, but u know here is America not Japan. They might prefer cheese and sausage flavour, don't u? |

しかし、デカイ。４５ｃｍ以上ある。 「カサゴ釣り」を知る釣人にしか、 理解できない喜びだろう。 こんなのをポイポイ釣ってしまうと、 帰国してから後遺症が残ってしまう。 船は３０分ごとにポイントを移動していく。 海が穏やかになり、釣りやすい感じになった。 するとライアンが連発、終いには４５ｃｍが３匹 束になって上がってきた。 隣で僕は２匹束釣り、日本じゃあり得ない光景、 さすがのアメリカ人もこれにはエキサイト。 僕らはいわゆる竿頭になっている。 |

| Somehow any of my help seemed to be unwelcomed here, today, at all. Therefore, I threw up againg and again in the restroom and laid down in the cabin.lol Then, Ryan suddenly started geting Black Sea Bass one after another instead of me, and finally, he gotta a triple of fucking Sea Bass in one line! That's amazing! Can u believe that? They are bigger, nealy 18 inches (45cm). We almost gotta pinnacle on this boat, today! What a beautiful day! |

今までより一際強烈なアタリを捕らえた。 ノッソリと、底を這うように動いていく。 クルーが、根掛りじゃないか？ と竿をもって確かめるが、「これは魚だ」と。 ゆっくり、ゆっくり巻け、というが。 とめられない、そして根にもぐられてしまった。 思うに、リンコッドだろう。 エイやサメ、サーモンなら、根に潜らない。 ハリス１０号、ということを忘れていた。 勝負できただろうに。 |
| It was so sudden. I got an unique signal different from Sea Bass's from
the deep in the waters. Just after I hooked him up, he started moving away slowly on the bottom. I tried to stop him but he won't. The crew said "keep it steady" but the reel got reversing rotation, and the line was going into the waters. I was afraid of breaking the line and can't retrive back strongly. Then, the fish stopped moving. No moving. Damn it!!! the fish got into the nest among rocks! I woder it was a LingCod. lol I should've retrived line. Actually the line is enough strong to stop his running! |

船首で騒ぎが起きている。 レディーが格闘している、竿の曲がりが半端 じゃない、青物をかけたときのよう。 銀色の何かが浮いてきた、 あり得ない大きさのサーモンだった。 あんなのは見たことがない。 残念ながら禁漁期間中のため、 即リリースとなった。 |
| Then, a lady was yelling, what's the heck going on? I can't believe my eyes! she gotta one meter of fucking giant Salmon!!! How come on earth can I forget the scene? No way but challenging the big one. Unfortunately, it's out of the season for salmon fishing now. The lucky giant could leave back to the waters. We both got enough Black Sea Basses: it totals 13. But the quota allows us to get 12 Sea Bass a day. We had two way then: one is to give the excessing one to the other anglers, and the other is only to forcus on fucking Lincod! |

| However, the time was over before I got the Lingcod's responsel again. It was a nice day, and unfortunately I realize something has changed in me. A huge green trees brings nutrition to the sea. There are untapped fish fields for anglers protected by the sevire whether and regulations. The number of fishing charters is far less here compared with Japan. Besides, I got haunted by the scene of the big salmon and missed probable Lingcod. Those made me swich on! I can't but parsuing them! |

| リンコッドらしきバラシと巨大サーモン、 残念ながら僕はあれを忘れることはできない。 豊饒な森林、ルールと厳しい天候に 守られた未開発な漁場、 そしてレアな北太平洋の魚たち。 最初は何も感じなかったのに、 ８ヶ月たった今、急に血が騒ぎはじめた。 残り２ヶ月、諦めておとなしく しておくことはできなさそうだ。 |
