| I arranged fishing again only for Lincod. That's the target today which
can make me satisfied. I booked another charter, Captain's Charter, by accident. There, fishing gears are different from the other one last time I used: light stick, spining reel and vinyl bait, and the anglers here look more veteran than the other one. Some of them bring their own gears. This one seems better for me. 「式根島とオレゴン、今週末は同じ太平洋で釣りですな。」 くらさんとそんな会話をしていたのはつい数日前のことだ。 敢えて彼の企画を引き継いで式根を決行しようとしたダルマさん、Ｍ先生、気まぐれな春先の天候か、 くらさんが「オレをおいていくな！」と言っているのか、 風速１５ｍの大西に阻まれ、式根組は断念。 さすがの大西も太平洋を越えてここまでは来ないようだ。突然の追悼釣行となってしまったが、 くらさん、そして断念した２人分の思いとともに、アメリカ西海岸ニューポートへ向かった。 |

| The first game was 18 inch of China rock fish, and the second one was Cabezon
but 15.5 inch. Unfortunately, the minimum size allowed to catch is 16 inch. This is one of most delisions fishes here. Then, an exciting time was coming on the boat. Every angler got fishes one after another. One angler got Lincod! Then, Lincod time had begun. "I got him!" then the clew said "got him or rock?" that because the game is so heavy. Then, I hooked really heavy one, but it was a couple of 18 inch rock fishes. |

| I tried to observe how the beteran anglers make it. Their bait were different from ours: black big vinyl bait and low sardines. But that isn't all. There is a secret. Maybe I could find it in the Newport aquarium later by watching swiming Lincod. Then I got a different signal from the deep in the waters. He was slowly moving, and my reel was getting back spinned. A crew dashed off to me with a net. "Hey come on! come on! good girl!" Then a big brown shape was coming up to the water, and he smoothly went into the net. I got him!!! It was fucking 26 inch Lingod!!!! ポイントについて数分後、次々と竿が曲がり始める。ライトタックル、道糸ハリスは６号くらい、エサはビニールベイト。 あがってくるのは、チャイナ・ロック・フィッシュ（ソイ系）、ブラック・シーバス（メバル系）、 キャベゾン（カジカ系）、そしてリンコッド（タラ系）だ。リンコッドは、タラ系らしいが、どうみても「アイナメ」だ。 |

| アラスカやオヒョウがいる海域まで行けば人の背丈ほどの化け物もいるらしいが、ここで上がるのは最大１ｍ級か。 ロックフィッシュはどれも４０ｃｍ級だ。一際重たいアタリ、しかし、４５ｃｍ級のロックフィッシュがダブルであがってきた。 この何が浮いてくるのか、ワクワク感がたまらない。しかし、そこは釣人の悲しい性、既にリンコッドしか視界に入っていない。 ベテラン風で、自分のタックルを持ち込んでいる釣人が、次々とリンコッドを掛ける。じっくりと観察させていただく。 そして真似てみる。ロックフィッシュはもう十分にキャッチした。リンコッド、リンコッド、オレにもリンコッド、 と心の中でつぶやきながら誘いを掛けていく。 仕掛けを海底に落とした直後だったとおもう、一際重たい魚心が伝わってきた。 呼吸を止めるように、ゆっくりとゆっくりと巻き上げていく。リールは逆転。クルーがタモをもってかけつけてくれる。 ついにやったか、ついにやったか、頼むから外れないでくれ、祈りながらリールを回す。 安物の竿とリールはなかなか味がある。 あの子供の頃に安い３．６ｍの釣竿で大物を掛けた時のような素朴なハラハラ感がある。 そして茶色いシルエットが浮いてきた。リンコッドだ。うれしさのあまり叫んでしまった。 |

| These rock fish are bigger and awesome, and I don't feel like getting rock
fish in Japan. この味をしめてしまうと、日本に帰ってカサゴやアイナメを狙うことはもうないだろう。 しかし、前回もそうだったが、クルーの爺さんが何しゃべってるのかさっぱり不明。 そういえば日振島の旧木下渡船の船長と肩を並べるくらいハードだ。 (Lessons/教訓) ・Use big black bait with a low bait.(黒のベイト、特大を使え。上の針にはイワシ。) ・He is in near the bottom but not exactly on the bottom.（あいつは底に張り付いている訳ではない。） ・The chance is mostly just when the bait get to the bottom.（仕掛けを落とした瞬間にアタリが出る。） |
