C. O’Kelly, of Hull, who won the Stadium heavyweight championship, and James Esson, of Aberdeen, the Scotch champion, was decided at the Hull Athletic Ground on Saturday, July 10, before 5000 people, the Hull man winning after a great struggle, which lasted 88 minutes. Both men stand over six feet, the Scotsman having the the advantage of a stone in weight. Esson gained the first fall at the end of fifteen minutes’ hard wrestling. The second bout saw the tables turned, O’Kelly throwing Esson after 34 minutes.
