Wladek Zbyszko, younger brother of the aged Stanislaus, and Nat Pendleton, former international amateur champion, were rivals in the second contest of twenty minutes. This bout went the limit and was declared a draw. Zbyszko, more experienced in the professional game than his rival, was the aggressor throughout and appeared to have an advantage in points. Pendleton’s superb defensive work saved the former amateur the humiliation of the defeat. Several times Pendleton escaped from tight places when Zbyszko had his rival clutched in punishing body holds. At one stage of the match, Zbyszko entwined his rival in the grip of a body scissors and for a time it looked as if Pendleton’s shoulders would touch the mat. By a superhuman effort, however, the former amateur escaped from the hold and defended himself against a fall thereafter.

ウラディック･ズビスコ対ペンドルトンは引き分け

　Wladek Zbyszko, another former world’s champion and a brother of the giant Stanislas, found a doughty opponent in Nat Pendleton, former Olympic champion and product of the New York A. C. Nat weighed 191 pounds and Zbyszko 214 pounds.

　ウラディック･ズビスコ、もう一人の元世界王者にして巨人スタニスラウスの弟は、前オリンピック王者にしてニューヨーク運動倶楽部育ちの、ナット･ペンドルトンという勇猛な敵を得た。ナットは体重191ポンドにしてズビスコは214ポンドであった。

　The latter, due principally to his advantage in weight, was the aggressor throughout, but the ex-amateur was so fast that he was able to squirm out of holds that seemed hopeless and fatal. The crowd roared with glee as the game Pendleton wriggled his way out of the jaws of defeat.

　Once Zbyszko had Pendleton lashed to the mat with a scissors and half Nelson. There seemed to be no human possibility that the Olympic hero could get out of the deadly trap, but he did. He spun out of the grip, standing almost upright on his head and flipped out of the menace with wonderful speed. At least a half dozen time thereafter Zbyszko had pendleton in situations almost as critical, but in each case he escaped. They wrestled through the allotted twenty minutes to a draw.

　Will Brown, because of the illness of George Bothner, refereed this and the final bout.Mister Pendleton was no sooner off the starting mark than he was browsing on the canvas with big Zbyszko smeared all over him. In 10 minutes time “Laddie” had applied a cruel toe, a half Nelson, an arm lock and a body scissors, but Pendleton escaped them all by the most strenuous sort of wriggling and bridging.
　Pendleton was no match for the big Pole.

学生が王座を狙う

　A new field has been opened for the college athlete―wrestling.
　Nat Pendleton, former captain of the Columbus University wrestling team, has turned professional.
　Pendleton recently hogged the sporting spotlight by defeating Mussino, who is rated among the best. He feels that within a year he will be ready to challenge champion Lewis.

　新分野が学生運動家に開かれている…レスリングである。
　ナット･ペンドルトン、元コロンビア大学レスリング部の主将は、職業選手に転向した。
　ペンドルトンが近頃打ち負かして運動愛好家達の注目を独占したムッシーノは、最上級に格付けされている。彼は一年以内に王者ルイスに挑戦できそうだと感じている。



　これ以降もプロレスラーとしての活躍が見られますが、ご紹介はここまでとします。プロの世界では頂点を極めるには至りませんでした。1930年代に入ると、芸能人としての記事が出て来ます。
　ペンドルトンはその後半生において、ハリウッドの映画俳優として活躍しました。
