雪景色ですが3月です。白馬にスキーに来たオーストラリア人8名様のグループをご案内しました。写真は外国人のお客様に大変人気がある地獄谷野猿公苑です。温泉につかったり、毛づくろいをしたり、人間にそっくりの仕草をするニホンザル (通称スノーモンキー) に興味津々のご様子でした。 The photo shows a snow scene, but it was taken in March. We guided a group of eight Australians, who came to Hakuba to ski. This is Jigokudani Yaen-Koen (wild monkey park), a very popular spot among foreign guests. The guests looked interested in Nihonzaru (snow monkeys) bathing in Onsen, combing and acting just like human beings.	オーストラリア人のご一行が次に向かったのは小布施。酒造場がやっているレストランで和食ランチをご堪能いただいたほか、北斎の作品を鑑賞したり、栗菓子、日本酒、果物、民芸品など、おみやげもたくさん見つかったようでした。 The Australians went to Obuse next. They enjoyed Japanese lunch at a restaurant run by a Japanese sake brewery. After enjoying the works of the great painter Hokusai at a museum, they enjoyed souvenir shopping like chestnut sweets, Japanese sake, fruit and folk crafts.

新緑に囲まれた明治四十四年館。 "Meiji Yonjyuyonen-kan", meaning "The House of the 44th year of the Meiji Era", surrounded by fresh green leaves.	浅間山をバックに。3世代でサイクリングなんてすてきなファミリーですね。 With Mt. Asama in the background. All the 3 generations of this family were enjoying cycling together. What a good family, aren't they?

気持ちのよい別荘地でナイススマイル。 Nice smiling in a wonderful cottage area.	カーリング場。軽井沢は冬夏両方のオリンピック競技が開かれた唯一の自治体。 A curling rink. Karuizawa is the only municipality that held both summer and winter Olympic Games.
畑が広がるのどかな風景。軽井沢名物の霧が、そして最後には雨が降るも、元気に走ってくれたアウトドアなご夫妻。 A peaceful view of spreading fields. Although we had fog, peculiar to Karuizawa, and rain in the end, this active couple cheerfully enjoyed cycling.	サポートカーと自転車。 A support car and bikes.
ふだんはハードなコースを走る方々もたまにはリゾートサイクリング。持ち込み自転車を見たメカニックは「高級な自転車だなあ」。 Those who take hard courses can also sometimes enjoy cycling in resort areas. When our mechanic saw the bikes the guests brought, he said, "What high quality bikes!"	まもなく出発。 Just before leaving.

カフェブレイク中に自転車は桜の下で。 During a cafe break we parked our bikes under cherry trees.	森の景色から打って変わり開けた場所へ。浅間山に向かって爽快に。 The forest view changed dramatically into an open space. Cycling toward Mt. Asama.
湯川の透き通った流れを覗き込む。 We looked into the clear stream of the River Yukawa.	石の教会への入口。外国人宣教師の開いた軽井沢には教会が点在。 The entrance to the church made of stone. There are many churches in Karuizawa, which is a town once developed by a foreign missionary.
坂なのにピースをする余裕のご夫妻 (ビギナーさんの場合には自転車を押していただきますのでご安心を)。 A slope was not hard for them. They could make V sign. (Beginners can push bikes, so please don't worry.)	透き通るようなピンクのしゃくなげが満開。 Transparent pink petals of rhododendrons at their best.

あと半分に向けて出発。	塩沢湖を見下ろす。 We looked down at the Lake Shiozawa.
サイクリングツアーの前夜に、フランス料理をお召し上がりいただきながらの交流会。アメリカ人のお客様も、初めての軽井沢を満喫されているようです。 We had a French dinner party the night before the cycling tour. An American guest also looked enjoying her first visit to Karuizawa.	この日は女性8名・男性1名にご参加いただきました! アメリカ人の姿も。レンタルの方もマイ自転車の方も、美しい新緑を楽しむスローサイクリングに仲良くスタート。前夜のディナーイベント (オプション) も盛況でした。 Eight women and a man took part in the KGS tour on this day. An American also took part in this tour. Both people who lent bikes and who had own bikes started a slow cycling to enjoy fresh green leaves in a friendly mood. The dinner event (optional) was also a great success in the evening before.
木漏れ日の別荘地にて。軽井沢らしい景色ですね。 At the vacation home area with sunbeams streaming through the leaves of trees. This scene is typical of Karuizawa.	湯川ふるさと公園に到着。 Arriving at Yukawa Furusato Park.
自転車を停めて数分歩くと、町内に水源を持つ湯川の清流に。心地よいせせらぎとさわやかな空気で、癒し効果抜群です。 We parked bikes, and after walking a few minutes, we arrived at the clear stream, the River Yukawa, which has the source in Karuizawa town. We enjoyed the beautiful stream and the fresh air that had a great healing effect.	塩沢通り。 On the Shiozawa Street.
青空と緑に映える明治四十四年館。チューリップがきれいに咲いていました。ここでお待ちかねのランチです。 The building called "Meiji Yonjyuyonen-kan", meaning "the house of the 44th year of the Meiji Era", looked charming in verdure under the blue sky. Tulips bloomed beautifully. We enjoyed awaited lunch here.	レストラン「ソネット」で好評を博したパスタ。大きめカットの新鮮地元野菜がたっぷり。集合時からすでに打ち解けた様子のサイクリストの皆さん、話も弾んだようです。 This pasta, with roughly cut fresh local vegetables, got popular in the restaurant "Sonnet". The cyclists, having quickly become friends when they met, enjoyed talking during lunch.
ランチのあいだ、自転車たちも木陰で一休み。 During lunch, our bikes also took a break in the shade of the trees.	軽井沢高原文庫前でガイディング。 Guiding in front of Karuizawa Kogen Bunko (The Literary Museum of Karuizawa).
信州らしい美しさを持つ南軽井沢の田園風景。畑が広がり、車も来ず、快適な走り。 A rural landscape of south Karuizawa has a beauty peculiar to Shinsyu. We enjoyed cycling through the farming fields without cars.	浅間山にまっすぐ伸びる道。 A straight road with Mt. Asama in front.
サポートカーでは、手荷物のお預かり、冷たいドリンク類の提供、メカニックによる自転車チェックなどを行うので、自転車に慣れない方も安心してご参加いただけます。長野オリンピックでカーリング競技会場となった風越公園にて。 Our support car kept luggage of the cyclists, served cold drink, and gave bike checks by the mechanic. So people who hadn't been accustomed to cycling could feel free to take part in our tour. This is Kazakoshi Park, where carling games were held at the Nagano Winter Olympic Games.	サポートカー。
中山道の裏道として江戸時代多くの女性が歩いた女街道。今はさわやかなサイクリングコース。 Onnakaido, meaning "women's road", used to be a back road of Nakasendo Highway where many women walked in the Edo Era. Now it is a refreshing cycling course.	「軽井沢72ゴルフ」にはさまれているので、枝の隙間から青々とした芝生が輝いているのが見えました。 As Onnakaido goes through the Karuizawa 72 Golf, we could see the fresh green grass shining through the branches of the trees.
カフェ「押立茶房」で最後の休憩。 We took a final rest at Cafe Oshidatesabo.	お天気がよかったのでデッキの席に座り、緑いっぱいの景色を見ながら、ケーキセットをいただきました。 As it was a sunny day, we took the tables on the deck and had cakes and drinks, enjoying the sight full of green.
押立茶房。	ラスト30分に向けてスタート。木漏れ日を浴びてあと一頑張りです。 Leaving for the last thirty minutes' cycling. The goal was getting nearer. We enjoyed cycling, getting the sunbeams streaming through leaves of trees.
