3.@ Conference Overview:

- Lectures:
Leading figures in the creative arts therapy field will be giving speeches on various topics such as theory of art therapy; assessment; analytical music therapy; mask-making in drama therapy; the history, essentials, and outlook of expressive arts therapy; and also the essentials of art therapy and professional development of therapists. There will be a total of six lecturers, each giving 3-hour lectures (this includes time for interpretations).

- Workshops:
Participants will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the different fields of creative arts therapy during the 3-hour workshops. There will be 20 workshops to choose from, touching on various areas.

Some examples of the workshops are: introduction of theories, characteristics, and techniques of the various fields; release from traumatic experiences; healing and personal development through creative expression; spirituality through creativity; and others which are based on traditional Japanese arts.

- Symposium:
During the afternoon on the 2nd day of the conference, representatives from the various creative arts therapy fields will discuss the commonalities, differences, and characteristics of their respective fields and how that makes their approach to therapy both similar and unique among the fields.

- Presentations:
Various individuals and groups will give presentations for either 45 or 90 minute slots. On the 7th, there will be a mini-symposicum on international collaboration held by four presenters..

Many topics on the practice of creative arts therapy in areas such as: trauma, abuse, AIDS, autism, psychosomatic disorders, adolescence, discrimination, war experiences, depression, stress management, self-healing, and others, will be presented. There will also be presentations with the theme of symbolism and assessment in art therapy.

- Poster sessions:
Poster presentations will be given.

- Video presentations:
A video screening on art therapy and other professional areas will be shown.

4.@ Get-acquainted party and Pre-conference reception party:

-Get-acquainted party:
There will be a buffet style dinner party for conference attendees to get acquainted and share infomration on the night of October 8th. Reservations are required. Please make reservations on the registration form.

Place: Conference reception hall
Fee: 4,000 Yen

-Pre-conference reception party:
There will be an informal reception party on the night prior to the beginning of the conference at a rented-out club where participants will be free to give impromptu performances or just relax and enjoy an evening unwinding.

Date & Time: October 6 18:00- (doors open at 17:30)
Fee: 1,500 Yen (includes one drink and light snacks)

5.@ Language used during the conference:

-All English presentations will have Japanese interpretation.
-Japanese presentations will be interpreted into English, but the interpretation format will differ depending on the presentation.
-All Japanese presentations other than WS-D2-1-4 (Atsuko Nadata), will have English interpretation.
-There are two Japanese presentations on the afternoon of the 7th which will have consecutive interpretation, but the rest will either have whispered English interpretations, or the presenter will speak both in Japanese and English.
