 技能全体を敏速に、かつ多くの場合自動的に、多少なりとも同時に行使すること
 が必要だからである。話す時には止まって考える暇はない。ある程度の流暢さが
 なければ伝達作用がこわれてしまうからだ。ある言葉を流暢に話すということは、
 会話でその言葉を、現地の人達とほとんど同じ速さで使うということであり、同
 時に、話し方よりむしろ話の内容に精神を集中できるということである。発音の
 場合とちょうど同じように、意志伝達をうまく行なうためだけなら、現地の人達
 と全く同じ様に話す必要はない。ところが、伝達がうまく行われたかどうかは、
 こちらが用いる言葉に対する、生まれた時からその言葉を使っている人達の対応
 次第なのだ。ためらいすぎたり、出だしを間違えたりすると、喋っていることを
 相手が理解しにくくなってしまうものである。それゆえ、意志伝達という点から
