もしも読むことが上手になるために読んでいるなら、どんな本でも、どんな記
事でも読めば良い、というものではない。いつも自分が読める本ばかりを読んで
いたのでは、読み方はうまくならない。自分の能力を越えた本、つまり理解する
ために努力が必要な本を読まなければならないのである。それに、努力をしなけ
れば物事を学ぶこともない。従って、上手に読めることだけではなく、どういう
本を読めば、自分の読む能力を高めるのに役立つかを知ることが大切なのである。
そういった本が難しすぎて理解できないだろう、という心配はいらない。なぜな
ら、読み方の規則に従って読めば、難しすぎる本などないからである。
