Tatsuro Shirai, present representative of SCO, worked for a chemical company, and mainly engaged in designing, construction, process development, process innovation etc. of synthetic fiber and polymer processing plants. He was appointed to general manager of fibers engineering dept. and FA engineering dept. During this period, he developed miscellaneous simulation software for polymer processing and fiber formation, and utilized the software to analyze and solve problems in actual tasks.
Later on, he was appointed to secretariat of a newly organized consortium, which aimed to develop infrastructure of exchanging and sharing plant technical information. At the same time, he became a member of international joint development WG of STEP (ISO 10303) AP227 standard. The standard is for the exchange and sharing of 3D plant information used in process industry.
