Transportation
The way coming to this destination is by air or sea. Applying airplane is more popular, concerning about time. (If your holiday can afford to time, ship traveling also becomes preciousness.) Ishigaki island has domestic direct flight from Naha, Fukuoka, Itami (Osaka domestic), Kansai (Osaka international), Nagoya, Haneda (Tokyo domestic). The flight between Ishigaki and Naha takes one hour and exists about 20 flights a day, between Fukuoka takes two hours and one flight, between Osaka takes two and half hours and two flights, between Nagoya takes three hours and one flight, between Tokyo takes three and half hours and two flights respectively. During high season, Golden Week holidays in May, July to September, New year holiday, it is better to come here via Naha. Naha airport has so many direct flight from Japanese main cities and some international flight from Taiwan, Philippines, Korea and China.
Transportation in the island is three ways, public bus, taxi, and rent-a-car.

Accommodation
Sightseeing destination Ishigaki has some kinds of accommodation facilities, from Hotel to economical one.
Not only western style bed, you can also enjoy Japanese traditional "tatami" and "futon". In many of Japanese style accommodations, the bathroom is located on common space, out of personal rooms.
From my view, except hotels, in this island the communication by English or other foreign languages are a little bit difficult. But of course there are some accommodations whose staffs can speak English very fluently or come from other countries. Ishigaki island has hospitalities that emigrants, like me, are welcomed by warm heart.
