Equipment which should be provided in the exhibition hall(#1)
Necessary equipment of pit and in it
Pit is a ditch arranged on the floor in the hall. 
The equipment arranged in this (i) Power supply for usually, wiring for illumination, wiring for Info-Com, wiring only for voice (ii) piping for gas and water service, piping for drainage etc. (i) and (ii) cannot use the same pit. 

The power supply is set up without fail. An individual illumination is necessary for each booth. You must extend the cable on the ground from main power supply without pit. As a result, the exhibition hall comes to speak ill with "Obstacle race" etc.

If there was a builder who says that you should better to set up the optical cable for information, you become an advantageous customer for that company. 

You don't need it. If these kind of things were set up, the cost for maintenance is huge (I shall explain the reason later).

The worker enters pit. Therefore, an area necessary for work is needed. 
Pit might be used as a passage for the wastewater. 
In that case, the section's shape should become like › of left figure. It is easy to flow in sewage. 
But ~ of left figure might be better if you think about the easiness of the inside work to do. 
Pit is covered with a heavy, strong lid. To secure strength of the floor, the lid of a strong plastron is used. It is very very heavy.

It is necessary to advance the pit practice while peeling off the heavy lid. 
Therefore, the lid of pit is divided into about tens of cm, and will be set in the upper part of pit. 

Still, the lid of the plastron is tens of kg in weight. 
When the knob of the drawing out type is applied to peel off an individual lid easily, it is convenient though it might cost money.

gThe entrance management system h --- It was only a vision. 

At first, the entrance management system of Tokyo Big Sight was built in the project plan. 
The outline is following. 

A large-scale computer is set up at the center of facilities. 
The entrepreneur of the exhibition recommends to the coming applicant to register his attribute before coming. All content of registration is memorized in the main computer. 
Unregistered person's attribute is input from the terminal set up in the registration place to the main computer. 
All coming person's attributes are memorized to the computer on the exhibition center by this way. 

Those who register already receive the card which has been registered. Registered person's number has been described on the card by the bar code. 

The network of super-efficient LAN is put on the exhibition hall. 

Also, the terminal is put on the exhibition company booth in the hall. 
The exhibition company requests the presentation of the registration card to the booth visitor. 
He reads it by the card reader at hand. ‚ƁAthe character of the visitor is displayed in the terminal in the booth. 
The exhibition company sees this, and changes the content of the explanation of the commodity. 

It might be a wonderful system, isn't it?

Why was not the entrance management system adopted?

‡T.Coming person's data is belongings of the entrepreneur of the exhibition. 

In the registration place, the entrepreneur gets the business card from those who come. 
The content is registered to the computer of entrepreneur's secretariat. 
The entrepreneur makes the list of names based on it. 
And, it is sold to the exhibition company. 
The entrepreneur does not want to get coming person's data managed collectively by the exhibition center side. 

‡U.The computer input is very time-consuming. 

In case of the exhibition, the person who registers coming beforehand is very small number of people.  Most customer comes suddenly at that day. Part-time jobs of a huge number of people and a lot of input terminals are needed to input them from the terminal soon at that time. There are optical character reader etc. But a lot of misreading is exist.  People are still needed. 
All the cost rebounds to the exhibition fee. 

‡V.Efficient LAN is necessary. 

When it is a big exhibition, the number of exhibition companies reaches 100 or more. Those who come are tens of thousands of people a day. 
Info-Com. ability of LAN should be too high to exchange a lot of data. 
We proposed that to make the  attendance card simple and to  save the time of the input, coming person's business card would be read by the image data and to paste the bar code on it .
However, the optical fiber of the high capacity blows out, too, when such a lot of image data is particularly thrown. 

‡W.I wonder whether those who come will do the advanced registration to begin with. 

Another advanced registration system existed in those days. Quite a lot of exhibitions adopt the advanced registration today when the Internet developed. However, this is limited to a special exhibition in case of almost. It is an exhibition of "Outsider refusal" so-called. To begin with, the number of coming people might decrease sharply if such an annoying system is introduced. The exhibition to which the person does not come is very lonely. 

‡X.Administrative and maintenance expenses of LAN are high. 

When you put LAN in the hall, The maintenance for LAN to function becomes a responsibility on the center side. It costs much exorbitantly.
