【KGI創立10周年に寄せて会長より御礼のメッセージ】 2月1日、軽井沢英語通訳ガイドの会 (KGI) は無事10周年を迎えることができました。これもひとえに地域の皆様をはじめ支えてくださっている皆様のおかげです。また、会員の持続的な努力にも助けられています。心より御礼を申し上げます。10年前の2015年、軽井沢がG7サミット開催地に立候補する事に決まった時、「軽井沢と英語が好きな人が集まり、研鑽の結果で地域に貢献できる組織を作りたい」という軽井沢ガイドサービス (KGS) の長年の構想を実現するのは今ではないか、という思いに至り、KGIが誕生しました。創立年に国連系の国際会議、翌2016年にG7交通大臣会合とまだ新しい組織としては大きすぎるほどのプロジェクトに関わることができるご縁に恵まれ、皆で必死に研修して頑張って何とか乗り越えることができたのも、よい思い出です。語学は継続こそが力になるとの思いで、インバウンド需要がゼロになったコロナの期間も、感染対策をしながら毎月の定例研修を続けました。結局、ほかの事と同じで、通訳やガイドなどの語学の道も、地道な努力と他者へのリスペクトがすべてなのかなと10年を経て改めて感じています。会長である私自身も、足りないことばかりで皆様に助けられており、もっともっと頑張らなくてはと思っています。次の10年も、語学活動として全国一のクオリティを目指しつつ (目標は高く!)、周囲の方への感謝を忘れずに、頑張っていけたらと思います。なお、会員は常時募集中ですので、軽井沢と英語にご興味のある方、仲間づくりをしたい方、いつでも入会のお申し込みをお待ちしております。これからもご指導ご鞭撻のほど宜しくお願いいたします。

[Message of Gratitude from Chairperson on the 10th Anniversary of Karuizawa English Tour Guide and Interpreter Group (KGI)] (英訳: 2024年度軽井沢高校長期インターンシップ生 土屋優翔 / Translated by Yuto Tsuchiya, Karuizawa High School)
KGI celebrated its 10th anniversary on February 1st. This milestone is entirely thanks to the support of the local community and other concerned parties. We are also grateful for the continued efforts of our members. We would like to express our sincere gratitude. Ten years ago, in 2015, when Karuizawa town decided to bid to host the G7 Summit, Karuizawa Guide Service (KGS) felt that it was the time to realize its long-held vision of "creating an organization that would bring together people who love Karuizawa and English and contribute to the local community with the trainings’ results” and so KGI was born. We were fortunate to be part of the projects that seemed far too large for a new organization, such as a United Nations-affiliated international conference in the year of our founding, and the G7 Transport Ministers' Meeting the following year in 2016. We all trained hard and worked hard, and we managed to overcome these challenges, which became great memories. We believe that continuation of language learning is the key to strength, so even during the coronavirus period when inbound demand dropped to zero, we continued to hold regular monthly training sessions while taking infection control measures. As the chairperson, I too have much room to grow and am receiving help from everyone, which motivates me to work even harder. We are always looking for new members, so if you are interested in Karuizawa and English, or if you want to make new company, please apply to join at any time. We look forward to your continued guidance and support.

【KGIの活動やFriendship Tourの様子】 軽井沢英語通訳ガイドの会 (KGI) では、2024年もさまざまな研修 (教室型、実地型)、KGI通訳ガイド・通訳ガイドアシスタント新人研修、KGI Friendship Tour、交流会、KGSでの語学業務を行いました。その一部をご紹介します。
● KGI会員のうち希望者はKGSに登録して有償業務も担当。2024年も通訳、翻訳、英語ガイド、講師などを担当。
● 6月～8月: 第3回グループ型KGI通訳ガイド・通訳ガイドアシスタント新人研修を開催。
● 10月: 松本にて「KGI Friendship Tour in Autumn 2024」を開催。国内に住む外国籍のゲスト9名をお迎えして、松本城などの名所を英語でガイドしたり、ランチで交流したりした。
● 12月: ホテルインディゴ軽井沢にて「2024年KGIクリスマス会」を開催し、おいしいイタリア料理をいただきながら会員同士で親交を深めた。
● 毎月欠かさず通訳、ガイド、英語の力を高めるための定例研修を行ったほか、プロレベルの第9回特別研修 (通訳・講師の育成、技術向上) も開催。

[KGI Activities and Friendship Tour] (英訳: 2024年度軽井沢高校長期インターンシップ生 土屋優翔 / Translated by Yuto Tsuchiya, Karuizawa High School)
In 2024, Karuizawa English Tour Guide and Interpreter Group (KGI) offered various training programs (classroom type, hands-on type), KGI Training Course for New Guide Interpreters and New Assistant Guide Interpreters, KGI Friendship Tour, networking events, and English-related works at KGS. We would like to introduce some of them.
- KGI members who wished to register with KGS took charge of paid work. In 2024, they worked as an interpreter, a translator, an English guide, a teacher, etc.
- June to August: The 3rd Group KGI Training Course for New Guide Interpreters and New Assistant Guide Interpreters was held.
- October: KGI Friendship Tour in Autumn 2024 was held in Matsumoto. We invited nine foreign guests living in Japan and guided them around famous sites such as Matsumoto Castle in English. We also enjoyed networking over lunch.
- December: KGI Christmas Party 2024 was held at Hotel INDIGO KARUIZAWA, where the members enjoyed delicious Italian cuisine and deepened friendships with each other.
- In addition to holding KGI Regular Training Programs every month to improve the skills of interpreting, guiding and general English, we held the 9th Special Training Program that offered professional-level training to further develop the skills for interpreters and teachers.
