【軽井沢高校での秋の取り組み・メディア情報】 KGSは軽井沢高校で非常勤講師を務めているほか、コミュニティー活動の一環として就業体験の受け入れなどを行っています。秋にはさまざまな特別活動を行ったので、写真付きでご報告します。
10/3は3年生の観光の授業で校外学習に出かけ、観光業やガイド業を学びました (その様子はFM軽井沢で放送されました)。11/7～9は、就業体験で1年生の石巻君がKGSにお越しくださり、事務作業、外国人客の英語ツアー同行、講師補助、翻訳校正などを体験しました。12/21～22は、3年生の観光の授業で、軽井沢のガイドツアーのプレゼンテーションを英日で行い、オーストラリア人留学生を観光客に見立てて模擬ガイドを行いました (その様子は12/23付信濃毎日新聞の31面に「軽井沢高生 英語で名所紹介 『通訳ガイド』の模擬体験」という見出しで掲載されました)。
どの取り組みでも、生徒たちは期待以上の頑張りを見せてくれて、多くを学んでくれたようでした。高校の先生方のご指導およびご協力にも深く感謝いたします。
[Special Activities of Karuizawa High School Students in Autumn] KGS is a special lecturer as well as a business to accept work experience in Karuizawa High School. The photos show a study day tour on Oct 3, work experience on Nov 7 to 9, and presentation of Karuizawa guiding in English and Japanese to an Australian student on Dec 21 and 22. The students did much better than expectation and they seemed to learn quite a lot. We highly appreciate Karuizawa High School's teachers' teaching and cooperation.

【10月のKGI定例研修開催の様子】 第30回KGI英語研修 (17/10/27) では、「ガイドの英語: 南軽井沢」(座学)、「Japanese Food Lunchで交流会」、「英語ガイド実地研修: 紅葉を楽しむ南軽井沢サイクリングツアー」を行いました。座学では教室でしっかり勉強し、ランチ交流会では和食を楽しみながら各自の趣味などを紹介して交流を深め、ガイド実地研修では実際に自転車で約20km走ってみて、ガイドの留意点などを確認しました。ご参加いただいた方、ありがとうございました。
次の研修は、一般の方を対象として12月2日 (上田創造館) と12月10日 (佐久平交流センター) に行う第15回KGS公開英語セミナーです。ぜひご参加ください。

【8月と9月のKGI定例研修開催の様子】 第28回研修 (17/8/27～28) では、「ガイドの英語: 長野県の地理、八ヶ岳、美ヶ原高原」、「教養の英語: ミュージカル映画『レ・ミゼラブル』で学ぶ英語」、「通訳訓練: アテンド逐次通訳 (ショッピング、カフェ、劇場にて)」を取り上げました。アテンド逐次通訳では、実践的なロールプレイを行いました。
第29回 (17/9/22～23) では、「ガイドの英語: 東京の浅草寺、秋葉原、東京都庁」、「G7交通大臣会合1周年記念講演: G7で使用した通訳技術と所感」を開催。G7の1周年記念講演は、一般の方も多くご参加いただき、通訳現場の楽しさや苦労を共有できました。ご参加いただいた方、ありがとうございました。
次のKGI定例研修は10月27日で、一般の方も歓迎ですので、ご参加お待ちしております。

【KGI定例英語研修開催: 「The Tale of Peter Rabbit」と旧碓氷峠実地ガイド研修】 7月12日に第27回KGI英語研修を開催しました。講座1では、"The Tale of Peter Rabbit" をBeatrix Potterの絵入りの本を読んで味わい、楽しみながら英語表現を学ぶことができました。講座2の実地ガイド研修では、旧碓氷峠を訪ね、「しげのや」さんで力餅とおそばをおいしくいただきながら力餅の説明方法などを確認し、その後熊野皇大神社、熊野神社、旧碓氷峠見晴台にてガイド内容や注意点などを確認しました。歴史、自然、食べ物、建造物、アクセスなど、いろいろと押さえるべきポイントが多い旧碓氷峠を実際に訪れて学び、参加者の交流も図れ、意義ある研修になりました。
[KGI Held Guide Training Programs] The 27th KGI English Training Programs were held on July 12th. In the first program, we read “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” and learned English expressions while enjoying charming pictures by Beatrix Potter. In the second program, we visited Kyu-Usui Toge Pass to learn practical guiding methods. We tried local traditional sweets called Chikaramochi (power rice cake) and visited Kumano Kotai Shrine, Kumano Shrine and Kyu-Usui-Toge Pass Miharashidai (Viewpoint).

【軽井沢高校でシェ草間の草間シェフを迎えて特別講演】 KGSは長野県軽井沢高校で「観光」の授業 (長嶋先生ご担当) の非常勤講師を務めていますが、7月7日にシェ草間のオーナーでシェフである草間文高氏をお招きし、フランス料理店のお仕事や人生経験について講演していただきました。シェフを志したきっかけ、お仕事をされる上での楽しいこと、大変なこと、大切なことなどを丁寧にお話しいただき、生徒たちからも熱心に質問が出て、充実した授業となりました。草間様、ありがとうございました。
[Special Lecture by Mr. Kusama of Chez Kusama at Karuizawa High School] KGS has been a special lecturer in the school subject of "Tourism" (Ms. S. Nagashima is in charge) at Nagano Prefecture Karuizawa High School. On July 7th, we invited Mr. Fumitaka Kusama, the owner and chef of Chez Kusama, and listened to his talk about his work and life. The students listened attentively to his speech and asked various questions. Thank you, Mr. Kusama.

【「注目の人」ページに「白木成一さん」のインタビューを掲載】 より幅広い分野の方々にご登場いただけるように、これまで「受講生・お客様」というタイトルで公開してきたページを「注目の人」に改称しました。リニューアル後の第一弾として、通訳案内士の白木成一さんをご紹介します。
白木さんは約40年の会社員時代に培った英語力を生かし、KGIにて通訳者、翻訳者として活躍中であるのに加え、通訳ガイドもスタート。通訳案内士試験の勉強方法、実際のお仕事の感想、今後の抱負などをお聞きしました。

[Interview with One of KGI Members] Mr. Shigekazu SHIRAKI has been working as an interpreter and translator in KGI, and after passing the national guide exam, he has also started to work as a professional English-speaking guide. We interviewed him and asked about his life, his way of studying, his working experience using English, his next goal and so on.

【軽井沢高校の観光の授業でグアム生と共同授業】 6月15日、長嶋先生がご担当され、KGSの永島が非常勤講師を務める軽井沢高校の「観光」科目の授業では、軽井沢ロータリークラブの交換学生であるグアムの高校生5名を迎えて通訳のロールプレイを行いました。軽井沢高校の生徒が5つのショップ (ジャム店、みやげもの店、ベーカリー、ドラッグストア、果物店) の店員と通訳に扮し、グアム生がそれらを回って買い物をしました。買い物時の店員とグアム生のやりとりを、通訳役の生徒が通訳しましたが、商品カードやおもちゃのお金も使って、よりリアルなお店ロールプレイになりました。5月末から練習してきましたが、本番では「軽井沢のお薦めスポットは?」「割引はできますか?」など、グアム生からの予期せぬ質問もあり、速い生の英語に触れる貴重な体験となりました。グアム生の皆さん、ありがとうございました。軽高生の皆さん、お疲れ様でした。
[Karuizawa High School Students Tried Interpreter Roleplay with Guam Students] On June 15, in the class of Tourism at Karuizawa High School, the students tried interpreting in the roleplay of shopping with Guam Students. Guam students visited 5 mock shops and the interpreter students tried interpreting conversations between English and Japanese. It was a great experience to get used to native speakers' English. Thank you for your cooperation and hard work, Karuizawa students and Guam students!

【KGS共催のシンポジウムが軽井沢町とフランスの交流拡大に貢献】 KGSは2016年9月5日、町民会議との共催のもとで「G7長野県・軽井沢交通大臣会合開催記念: 外国人客おもてなし研究シンポジウム」を開き、G7の政府機関をはじめ多くの方々を講演者として招待しました。その際、講演者の一人であるフランス観光開発機構の方が軽井沢町を気に入ってくださり、2017年に軽井沢町でイベントを開催したいとのお話がKGSにありました。
そして2017年5月28日、フランス観光開発機構が開催した観光旅行のグループが軽井沢を訪問し、軽井沢町長、観光経済課長、観光協会長の出迎えを受けました。この様子は広報かるいざわ7月号にも掲載されています。
外国人客おもてなし研究シンポジウムが縁となった軽井沢町とフランス観光開発機構の交流が今なお継続されていることをKGSでは嬉しく思っており、今後もさまざまな形で国際交流やインバウンドに貢献していきたいと考えています。
[Symposium Commemorating G7 Transport Ministers' Meeting Strengthening the Relationship between Karuizawa and France] On September 5th 2016, KGS and Karuizawa Town Residents' Committee held "Symposium Commemorating G7 Transport Ministers' Meeting in Karuizawa, Nagano: Research and Discussion on Hospitality for International Inbound Visitors", inviting many G7-related guest speakers. In the Symposium, one of the speakers, a member of ATOUT FRANCE, told KGS that they were interested in holding an event in Karuizawa in 2017.
On May 28th 2017, a group tour from ATOUT FRANCE actually visited Karuizawa, according to "Karuizawa Public Information" issued in July, 2017. We are proud of our contribution to strengthening the relationship between Karuizawa and France.

【KGIで鬼押出し園にて実地ガイド研修開催】 第26回KGI英語研修では、雄大な火山の景色を楽しめることで外国人客にも人気の鬼押出し園にて実地ガイド研修を開催しました。鬼押出し園のスタッフ様にも貴重なお話を伺うことができ、この場を借りて御礼申し上げます。お天気にも恵まれて、美しい新緑、見頃だったレンゲツツジ、ウラジロヨウラク、イワカガミなどの可憐な高山植物、浅間山と火山活動、観音堂の歴史、お守りや鐘といった仏教関連の事象などのガイド方法を確認し、会員同士の交流も図れ、有意義な時間となりました。
[KGI Held a Guide Training Program in Onioshidashi Park] The 26th KGI English Training Program was held in Onioshidashi Park. We would like to thank the park to give us a talk about the park. Blessed with good weather, we checked how to guide Mt. Asama, volcanic activities, Kannondo Temple, Buddhism, wild plants, etc. We had a meaningful day by learning and socializing.

【KGI初のバスツアー通訳ガイド研修 (地獄谷野猿公苑、小布施) を開催】 第25回KGI英語研修では、初めての試みとして、バスを借り切って英語のバスガイドをしながら、スノーモンキーで有名な地獄谷野猿公苑と、北信濃の美しい町小布施を訪ねる実地研修を開催しました。実際にマイクを持ち、各自が練習してきたガイディングを披露し、聞き合いました。野猿公苑や周辺では猿の見学はもちろん森林浴も満喫し、小布施では名店鈴花さんで和食を試食し、栗菓子店などの重要スポットを巡りました。駐車場位置や人数などガイドの実践的な業務も確認し、会員同士の交流も図れ、有意義な一日となりました。
[KGI's First Bus Tour Training Held in Jigokudani and Obuse] The 25th KGI English Training Program was held in Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park and Obuse using a chartered bus. KGI members gave their prepared guide talks using a microphone in the bus and listened to each other. We had a meaningful day by watching monkeys, having delicious Japanese food, visiting chestnut confectionery shops, socializing among the members, and so on.

【軽井沢高校で中棚荘の富岡氏を迎えて特別講演】 KGSは長野県軽井沢高校で「観光」の授業 (長嶋先生ご担当) の非常勤講師を務めていますが、1月12日に中棚荘女将の富岡洋子氏をお招きし、旅館のお仕事や人生経験について講演していただきました。楽しいこと、大変なこと、外国人のお客様の対応などを優しく丁寧にお話しいただき、生徒たちも聞き入っていました。生徒からのさまざまな質問にもお答えいただき、充実した授業となりました。
[Special Lecture by Ms. Tomioka of Nakadanasou at Karuizawa High School] KGS has been a special lecturer in the school subject of "Tourism" (Ms. S. Nagashima is in charge) at Nagano Prefecture Karuizawa High School. On January 12th, we invited Ms. Yoko Tomioka, the landlady of Nakadanasou, and listened to her talk about her work and life in the traditional Japanese inn. The students listened attentively to her speech and asked various questions.
